Ministry Update - May 2026

Serving Southeast Asia and Refugee Youth of Georgia with Youth With a Mission

Kids Club Mon - Thurs

We have been running Kids Club with refugee elementary age kids since September. We are in a local apartment complex where 100% of the families are refugees mostly from Afghanistan, Syria, Nepal, Sudan, or the Congo (with a few other nations represented). 99% of the kids are muslim and yet we are able to sing Christian songs, talk about Jesus and teach the Bible every day!

We’ve noticed a significant change

Challenging:

There is open animosity from some older kids because we are Christian. It is common to be cussed out and screamed at by kids in the parking lot or standing on the perimeter of Kids Club. I am encouraged by our adoption training that focused on “kids from hard places” which has helped to understand these kids more. (They are from some of the hardest situations you could imagine). We are also encouraged through Paul’s epistles as well as some missionary biographies about the response to persecution. Responding in calm, kind tones when someone is screaming at you is incredibly disarming. The Holy Spirit has been leading and guiding us. They know we love them and we are consistent in their lives 4 days a week. It is not easy, but the more these older kids try to push us away, we pray they will see the love of Jesus through us more and more.

Positive:

When you tell a child not to do something, there is a natural curiosity that wants to ask “why?” God is using that! After the mosque telling people not to come, children are very interested in Jesus now! We have had infinitely more conversations about Jesus, His deity, and what is different about us and our Jesus. Please pray God continues to use this and draw people to Himself!

In March the local mosque made an address to all its congregants and told them to not let their children come to our Kids Club anymore because they were becoming Christian.

We have been open with the families from the beginning that we are Christian and we are teaching the Bible. The pressure from the mosque definitely scared some families though. Our attendance dipped from 50 to about 15 overnight. We are slowly increasing again and are at about 30 kids regularly.

How To Pray

Current Prayer Requests:

1

God’s Fruit of the Spirit in response to anger and cursing

As we have responded calmly and with love, we have seen some amazing things!

2

4

Children to be more open to Jesus and accept Him as Lord and God

3

Deeper relationships with families

This can be hard because parents work so much
